Karibu
(pronounced
kah-ree-boo)
is a Swahili
word that
means
“Welcome
Home.”  


This name
was given in a
way to set the
tone for the
Karibu House
Community
Center in
Detroit.  A
place where
people can
come home
and feel
welcomed,
“at home.”
Donations

Donations are greatly appreciated and enable the Karibu House board to create and maintain
needed programs, events for the community, and a safe space to provide emotional and
social support in the city of Detroit for lgbt’s and their families/friends.  All donations are tax-

Volunteering

Help Karibu House host events throughout the year. Volunteers are needed to help out with
the Kid’s Fair at Black Gay Pride, booths at Motor City Pride Black Gay Pride, and Cinco de
